Dr. J. Christopher Farmer, MD, MCCM, FACP, FCCP, is Avera eCARE’s Associate Medical Director is an academic intensivist with 30+ years of experience, a seasoned C-suite physician executive and retired Colonel in the United States Air Force and is Emeritus Professor and Chair, Mayo Clinic. He is a globally recognized disaster response subject matter expert and consultant. At Avera eCare Dr. Farmer is charged with the development and enhancement of Acute Hospital services.  Providing low cost solutions to customers improving healthcare access and quality of care.

During his career, he has served as: Director, Critical Care Medicine and Chief of Inpatient Services, Wilford Hall Medical Center; Commanding Officer, United States Air Force; Chief Medical Officer, TRICARE Southwest; Medical Director, multi-state healthcare group purchase organization; Medical Liaison for Homeland Security, United States Air Force; Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program Director, Mayo Clinic; Associate Dean Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education; Enterprise Medical Director, Disaster and Pandemic Preparedness, Mayo Clinic; Department Chair, Mayo Clinic; President, Society of Critical Care Medicine; Chair, Critical Care Medicine Board, Amercian Board of Internal Medicine.
