Amanda Olney

Amanda Olney has been a dedicated and innovative physical therapist at Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle WA since 2010 as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Passionate about caring for older adults, he has focused her efforts on earning a board certification specialty in geriatrics. Finding many barriers to accessing care for this population she began offering clinical video telehealth in 2017. Later that year she was selected as program coordinator for Rehab Care TeleRehabilitation program: TeleRehabilitation Enterprise Wide Initiative (TREWI), a national VA program funded by the Office of Rural Health. The Seattle VA has focused on developing specialty TeleRehabilitation services in various areas including wheelchair mobility, home safety evaluations, home exercise follow ups, and interdisciplinary programs for geriatrics, stroke, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and polytrauma.

Having a special interest in geriatrics, Amanda partnered with the VA’s geriatric research and education department to develop MOVing FREEly, a Multicomponent, Otago, Virtual, Falls Reduction, Education, and Exercise series.  This was initially developed for in person care, but pivoted to 100% virtual with the onset of the pandemic. Learning how to transform this program has been a great experience, finding Veterans are making progress and enjoying the process.
