Quality education for physicians, consumers and all stakeholders in the industry is a critical puzzle piece. As the applications of technology in healthcare continue to grow, training must take center stage to ensure virtual health continues to thrive and is effectively integrated into traditional modes of care.
This moderated panel of nationally recognized telehealth experts, representing delivery systems, telehealth services, payers, academic and medical schools, will explore how to support quality telehealth delivery through education, while simultaneously preparing the workforce of the future. Each has worked to address gaps in telehealth competencies and training through national initiatives. The group will share real-life success stories and address key issues and questions, such as:

The American Board of Telehealth was founded to identify foundational concepts and best practices in telehealth that could be shared with the greater community to expedite the integration of telehealth into everyday practice. With contributors and advisors representing the top minds in telehealth, the American Board of Telehealth has developed certificates and accredited content to elevate the standard of care and promote lifelong learning and professional develop in the use of telehealth.
TelehealthVillage
TelehealthVillage is a virtual community of telehealth and clinical experts creating a comprehensive platform for telehealth education. Their accredited courses educate physicians, nurses, administrators, IT teams, and policy makers in engaging, interactive content. TelehealthVillage exists thanks to a collaboration between the University of Virginia (UVA) Center for Telehealth, the Mid-Atlantic Telehealth Resource Center and the University of Virginia (UVA) Office of Continuing Medical Education.
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)
The AAMC and its Telehealth Advisory Committee have developed telehealth competencies across the continuum of UME, GME, and CME with input from a broad range of stakeholders. The competencies are intended to guide educators developing curricula as well as students learning to practice and professionals continuing their development. AAMC continues to work to support the spread of high quality training into all stages of medical training, as well as to support the development and validation of assessment methods and effective virtual precepting models.
Optum Health
Optum Health, a health services and innovation company, represents the largest ambulatory provider network in the country and has developed provider specific technology and telehealth training for their clinics. They are also a consumer of telehealth education from recognized experts such as the American Board of Telehealth and the American Telemedicine Association.
