Shawn Griffin
Dr. Shawn Griffin is the first physician to serve as President & CEO for URAC – the country’s leading independent, nonprofit accreditation organization based in Washington, D.C.
Shawn brings a fresh view and leading-edge ideas to the sometimes-rigid world of health care accreditation. He leads URAC in improving health care through measurement, accreditation, and identifying and sharing best practices throughout the industry.
Before taking the helm at URAC, Shawn worked at Premier Inc., where he led clinical performance improvement and applied analytics activities as Vice President. He also served as a consultant for both physician-hospital quality improvement and analytics.
Shawn has proven expertise in a wide variety of health care topics and can be counted on for engaging and insightful commentary that’s both relevant to health care professionals and approachable for laypeople.
Shawn is a graduate of Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa. Shawn was trained in Rural Family Medicine and has practiced medicine in Iowa and Missouri. He retains his board certification in Family Medicine.
