R. Shayn Martin

Dr. Martin is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. He is a clinically active Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon as well as the Executive Director of Adult Critical Care and the Chair of the WFBH System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. As a health system leader he directs the integrated critical care program for the WFBH system and partners with pharmacy leadership to drive optimal practice. Dr. Martin leads WFBH’s application of tele-critical care services to optimize the use of system resources. Dr. Martin also is an educator with significant effort dedicated to teaching medical/graduate students, residents, fellows, and other members of the healthcare team. As such he is highly engaged in the advanced training of trauma surgeons allowing for the dissemination of knowledge related to critical injury and illness.
