Kate Brown leads Mercer’s Center for Health Innovation (CHI), a group within the U.S. Health business dedicated to driving innovation that works for our employer clients.  Kate is responsible for creating and executing on Mercer’s innovation roadmap, and was instrumental in the creation of Mercer’s latest point of view, Reinvent for Value.

Kate’s current focus areas include how digital health companies are accelerating change in healthcare, how technology is reshaping care delivery, and the role of the consumer in benefits. During her tenure as the CHI leader, Kate has expanded Mercer’s innovation portfolio with several key initiatives that benefit employer plan sponsors, including QualPic, a diagnostic tool employers can use to assess quality and value in their health plans.

Prior to leading CHI, Kate served as a consultant in Mercer’s Total Health Management practice.  She was responsible for developing well-being strategies for large employers, and did extensive project management in the Digital Navigator space. Her work included designing pilots, running large-scale implementations, and ongoing vendor management.

Kate has 6 years of experience in the health and benefits space, with 4 years focused on health innovation. Prior to Mercer, Kate held sales and operations positions at Apple, where the notion to “think different” took hold. She has a master’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas, and is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS).
